As a matter of fact, I know some hard-core fundamentalists who are the rankest kind of worldlings, because they imagine that holiness consists only in external and cultural things, and they have not cultivated a genuine love in their hearts for that which is spiritual.
Truly, the practice of legalism and fundamentalism does lend itself to a sense of moral superiority. That leads to, or becomes, pride in ourselves. BIG SIN, right there. But it is So easy to fall into that sin. We’re a mess; not at all worthy of God’s grace yet he has found us worthwhile for His grace. What an awesome God.
