These allegedly Christian blogs are always upset at somebody or something. There commentors constitute an Amen chorus of upset people who are "shocked" "sickened" "stunned" "troubled" "horrified" "furious" "shaking"  etc..

Reading the blogs one tends to think that the authors of the articles and authors of the comments just learned that mankind has a bent towards sin; even those in the church or ministry.

As for spiritual abuse; apparently it didn't exist until this century - at least that the impression you get if you're reading the blogs and their amen chorus.

Oh well, Solomon said, "there is nothing new under the son."  I suspected the people under his kingship
also were  "shocked" "sickened" "stunned" "troubled" "horrified" "furious" "shaking"  etc..

At least you could do is link to the blog list you ripped off. At least you could do is actually bother to read a bit about the network...you would then know that personal religious affiliation plays no part in being part of the network. I, for example, am an atheist.

Spiritual abuse, along with sexual abuse is a problem in the Christian church regardless of your willing ignorance of it.

The problem is Bruce, people seem to think it wasn't a problem before. People are people. There have ALWAYS been authortarian controllers in every era, every organization, every informal group.
"Spiritual abuse" is nothing new.

No one as far as I know in those blogs has claimed that this is the first generation of spiritual abuse, oh no, it goes by way farther than this generation. My great grandfather was a minister and I'd heard enough horror stories from him and my grandfather to know that spiritual abuse crosses generations AND faith systems. From the Jewish side of my family there have been tales as well. Some of my Muslim friends have shared. It's a serious problem that's been allowed to fester in many places, faiths and times.

So nice of you to make so light of it as a modern 'Christian' problem.

If you'd bothered to look at my blog you'd find I post Gluten Free recipes and talk about my family way more than I ever mention any religion. But it's way easier to make an assumption isn't it?

So, if spiritual abuse is nothing new, what exactly have you proven?

Try reading the blogs you say you have read, rather than spouting off your obvious ignorance as to the subject matter.

This post is freaking hilarious.

"These allegedly Christian blogs "

WUT? Who said these blogs are Christian? Not the bloggers themselves. You clearly have not read A THING that these folks have written. Vyckie, for example, is an atheist.

There are serious problems with what is portrayed as "Christian," and these folks are pointing out those problems.

The problem is that YOU don't want anybody to hear about the problems. You are fat, dumb, and happy, and therefore, life is good for you, so nuts to everybody else.

Hard times coming for you, man.

Calulu; I would probably consider gluten free recipes to be abusive; but that's another post - sigh

Bustamente made the telling comment: "The problem is that YOU don't want anybody to hear about the problems. You are fat, dumb, and happy, and therefore, life is good for you, so nuts to everybody else."

Fat, dumb, happy? I'll give you 2 out of 3.

You still don't demonstrate that you have bothered to actually read the blogs, nor do you do the courtesy for your readers of linking to the blog where you took this list (let alone to the individual blogs) which would allow your readers to make their own assessment.
I am glad that you have your faith; that does not mean that others, throughout time, have not suffered for some (possibly false) Christian/Muslim/Jewish/Hindu etc claims.

This is one of the most incomprehensible blog posts I've ever read, which is really saying something.

Sure, there has always been spiritual abuse. There has also always been cancer. In the past they weren't called by these names and people knew less about them, their causes, and effective treatments.

So does the existence of spiritual abuse in the past invalidate the experiences of those who carry scars today? It seems to me that this is the point you are trying to make-- that the members of this network should be ignored, that their views should be treated as invalid. But this attitude is part of the problem, not part of the solution.

Jesus said "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you." Do you prefer being listened to and not dismissed? Do you prefer having your thoughts and feelings given serious consideration? Do you prefer having your past pain and struggles treated as reality and not a made-up complaint? Then I would suggest that Jesus' words apply to these areas too.

If I were to categorize the ministry of Jesus, I would say that half was spent speaking out against spiritual abuse and the other half was spent reaching out to the abused. And if I recall correctly, the Father was "well pleased."

When you find yourself responding with scorn to a group of people for no reason other than that they have been hurt, and are upset by other people being hurt... it might perhaps be time to pause and reflect on that a bit.

I'm a touch confused as to the purpose of this post. You didn't include links to any of the blogs you list, so anyone who sees this (unless they're already familiar with the blogs) won't have the means to see what it is you're talking about. Does this mean you're trying to hide the truth, or that you were lazy?

I am familiar with these blogs, and no one makes the claim that any of what they're writing about is "new." And what does it being "old" have to do with anything, anyway? That, just because it's been around forever, that we should just ignore that it happens?

And, also you seemed to be comparing the abuse that these people have suffered to people under Solomon's reign, and I'm assuming that you have a passing familiarity with Solomon. The Bible says that God made him wise-- so, are you claiming that abusive ministers are not actually abusive at all, that it's just "foolish" people who aren't smart enough to see "Solomon's" wisdom?
